Tulsi Gabbard is an American politician and military officer notable for her diverse career in public service. Born on April 12, 1981, in Leloaloa, American Samoa, she is the first American Samoan and the first Hindu member of the U.S. Congress. Gabbard graduated with a B.S. in business administration from Hawaii Pacific University in 2009. Gabbard began her political career at the age of 21 when she was elected to the Hawaii State Legislature. She later served on the Honolulu City Council from 2011 to 2012.
